Privacy Policy

ExaMedIT respects your right to privacy and has carefully designed our Privacy Policy to reflect our commitment to this issue and you, our customer. Please read our Privacy Policy carefully. If you have any questions about our commitment to privacy, please contact us. In order to maintain our objectivity and impartiality, this web portal is owned, operated, and funded exclusively by ExaMedIT, Inc.; and therefore, we do not solicit or accept any funding from outside resources.

At ExaMedIT, we believe very strongly in sharing knowledge for better health. We respect and take steps to ensure the privacy of our patients and visitors to our web portal. While visiting our portal, we realize that you may be gaining information about a condition that you are facing personally, or perhaps you are collecting health information for a friend, family member or patient. Whatever the case, it is our goal to offer you many choices to obtain the information that you need while maintaining the confidentiality that you expect.

With this thought in mind, we have worked to develop the features of our business and our web portal to ensure your privacy based on the principles set forth in the Code of Conduct for medical and health web portals. Our value to all healthcare stakeholders is that we will push the envelope of compliance with all confidentiality and health information management standards that the Health Care Finance Administration enacts under the The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Our web portal does not employ cookies due to the sensitivities surrounding this issue. ExaMedIT staff members are trained in the importance of confidentiality, and we have policies and procedures in place that safeguard your privacy. We also use a three-part "key" that must be given by our visitors to reach personal health information. This "key" includes a unique user name, password and Personal Identification Number. Without all three of these "keys", visitors are only able to access basic and non-personalized health information. Finally, we have invested in user authentication processes, Secure Socket Layers and encryption technology designed to keep our information safe and secure. We welcome you to the ExaMedIT portal, and we hope that the time you spend with us will be educational, enriching and rewarding. There is more detailed information about our confidentiality and privacy assurance features and our associated policy listed below for your reference.

Security Statement
ExaMedIT recognizes and respects your right to privacy on the Internet. We share your concerns. ExaMedIT will always respect your privacy and keep your personal information confidential unless law requires disclosure. Legal disclosure of confidential information, on or off the Internet, would be required in cases such as suspected child abuse or elder abuse, protection of public health, response to subpoena, and for the protection of individuals.

We provide portal security through measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of information under ExaMedIT's control. Additionally, these measures are used to protect information collected on our portal from unauthorized access. Measures in place include internal policies and procedures, a three-part access process (user name and password are required to access personalized health services), encryption technology, and Secure Socket Layer technology.

Cookies
In order to respect the privacy of our visitors, and to give you peace of mind while you visit our portal, ExaMedIT does not employ mechanisms called "cookies" to customize the features of our portal.

Cookies are small text files that many web portals use to recognize repeat users. Many portals use this feature to facilitate the user's ongoing access and use. Generally cookies function by assigning a unique number to the user's computer. This number has no particular meaning outside the assigning portal nor does it pose a threat to any of the user's files. By utilizing features of your browser program individuals may deny the cookie feature for any portal they may be visiting. There is a simple procedure in most browsers that will allow you to deny the use of cookies. Even though using cookies might enable ExaMedIT to offer more specialized functions to our visitors, it is our choice not to use them in order to offer our visitors more peace of mind while gaining healthcare knowledge through our portal.

Secure Socket Layer

ExaMedIT uses Secure Socket Layer ("SSL") encryption technology to ensure the integrity and security of the information you pass to us via the Internet. However, to take advantage of this, you must utilize a browser that has the capability to handle the SSL technology (Netscape or Internet Explorer, version 3.0 or higher, for example). SSL technology allows for increased privacy and reliability between two communications applications.

Employee and Technology Partner Training

All ExaMedIT employees and those of our strategic partners are trained to protect member privacy and must uphold the company's Privacy and Confidentiality policy as part of their employment or contract with ExaMedIT. The company's internal policy limits access to personally identifiable health information to select employees that require such information to conduct normal business operations and such access is recorded in a log. The policy ensures that sensitive health information is protected at all times. All employees and contractors undergo rigorous training in this area and are required to maintain compliance with these standards.

Advertisers and Sponsors

ExaMedIT may, from time to time, display advertisements from other companies or organizations that we believe can add value to our portal and provide useful information or services to our visitors. The source of such advertisements will be clearly indicated. Generally, these advertisements will allow our visitors to "click through" to the advertising companies' or organizations' web portals. Should you choose to click through to one of our advertisers, please read their privacy policy carefully. ExaMedIT is not responsible for any actions or policies of such advertisers. ExaMedIT does not share personally identifiable information with its advertising partners.
