RVP Conversion FactorsA companion to Relative Values For Physicians RVP 2002 Conversion Factor Reports are data-based medical reference tools designed to assist providers and payers in assessing health care charges when using relative values to weight the overall value of procedures performed. The Report describes and provides geographically modified conversion factors on the national, state, and regional level. It also contains background information on relative value systems and units, which are integral to the use of this product. New for 2000, the Report contains a set of National Conversion Factors and Geographic Economic Modifiers to enable users to examine data in over 400 different localities within 10 HCFA Regions! Also new in this version, the conversion factors have been produced to exhibit a higher degree of specificity. For example, previous factors exhibited the sections SURGERY-Musculoskeletal, the report now exhibits SURGERY-Musculoskeletal-spine, etc. To save you time, your encrypted and compressed download will contain Conversion Factors in either plain text, MS Word, or MS Excel formats for easy manipulation, printing, exportation, and viewing. Used in conjunction with Relative Values For Physicians, the most widely used relative value system available for private payers, RVP Conversion Factor Report allows practices, health care consultants, hospitals and ambulatory care centers, third-party payers, employer groups, Workers' Compensation Commissions, and actuaries to easily plot and comparatively measure the consistency of the fees charged or paid for professional services. The Report is also an essential tool to negotiate managed care fee schedules and assess cost of services. Quite simply, "reality-based" Conversion Factors are monetary units created from a voluminous database of indemnity health care charges, electronically retrieved from the provider marketplace, which are applied to relative values for respective medical procedures to derive a fee for service. The factors are exhibited in the spreadsheet with percentile arrays from the 20th percentile to the 90th percentile for each procedural section and subsection of the coding nomenclature. (i.e., e.g., SURGERY, Integumentary, skin, etc.) Over the years, the Conversion Factor Report has become the "Industry Standard" for effectively converting relative value units to statistically significant procedural charges. Now it's possible to plot and gauge the consistency of your own "internal" conversion factors...and adjust charges and reimbursements accordingly.
